Seasonal preparation starts before the weather changes.
As we move into the colder months, now is the time to make sure your buildings, systems and teams are prepared for what the season can bring.
A few key areas to consider:
-
Building checks – inspect roofs, gutters, drainage and external areas for potential issues.
-
Heating & ventilation – service your boiler and heating systems to make sure they’re working efficiently before temperatures drop. This is one to get ahead of early.
-
Cold weather preparation – check cold water pipes are properly protected against freezing and identify any areas that may be vulnerable to frost.
-
Emergency lighting – test emergency lights both inside and outside your buildings to ensure they are working when they’re needed most.
-
Fire & compliance – check that essential safety systems and emergency procedures are up to date.
-
Weather readiness – secure outdoor areas and address anything that could become a risk in poor weather.
-
Grit & winter safety – make sure grit bins are filled, accessible and ready to use when icy conditions arrive.
-
Your people – make sure teams have the right equipment, PPE and support to work safely throughout the season.
Good facilities management isn't just about responding when something goes wrong. It's about identifying potential issues early and putting the right measures in place.
A little preparation now can help prevent disruption, unexpected repairs and safety issues later.
Prepare now. Protect your people, your buildings and your business this season.
